Over the years, the Lighthouse has seen many changes, first built in a European style way back when Cleveland Point was a major Port. In 1880 it was named the Pier Hotel beginning its reign as a dining establishment. After burning down in 1936 it was rebuilt as the Cleveland Kiosk.
A few more owners and facelifts later, it was renamed the Lighthouse in 1986, in homage to the historical hexagonal lighthouse on the property.
Today the Lighthouse stands in its current glory, under new ownership, as a testament to Cleveland’s long and rich history as a pinnacle area of south-east Queensland.
